5 Radish Health Benefits + How to Enjoy Them

Typically slivered over mediocre salads, most people wouldn’t believe that this humble red root is a nutritional powerhouse.

When it comes to radishes, I was never a huge fan either. The little round roots on grocery store shelves always seem flavorless and watery.

Where to Buy the Best Radishes

But once I become an organic vegetable farmer, I realized that not all radishes are created equal. There are dozens of varieties of these little crunchy gems, from ruby red to violet to fuschia pink.

There are also different shapes and flavors, from daikon, watermelon radishes and even black Spanish radishes.

It turns out that unique radish varieties grown in healthy living soil have way more flavor than their bland grocery store counterparts. That’s why I always buy radishes at the farmer’s market or grow them myself!
